Learning outcomes of the course unit
  • Based on the theoretical financial framework, which will be briefly explained at the beginning of the course and is necessary to better evaluate the digital developments in the financial sector, the topics of financial intermediation in a digital financial economy, financing instruments in the digital context, and the skills required to successfully operate in a digital financial economy will be presented. The students are thus enabled to understand current and future developments in the financial sector, in particular with regard to digital technologies, in economic terms and thereby to be able to assess opportunities and risks at both the individual and corporate level.

  • The assessment in this course consists of two examination components:

    The first examination component will be completed on Friday, November 15, 2024, during the course, where an economic issue (case study) is to be solved in group work and the proposed solution is to be presented to the auditorium. The task and the group assignment will be announced on the course date on November 15, 2024. Each of the group members must present a part of the solution. The solution presented by each group should not exceed 20 minutes and should be followed by a 10-minute discussion in the auditorium. This exam counts for 50% of the final grade.

    The second examination component is a presentation on a specific course-related topic (topics issued and assigned by the examiner on the first day of class), which is to be worked on in small groups of max. three students as part of a well-founded scientific lecture and presented to the other students. The duration of the presentation should not exceed 20 minutes. Each presentation will be followed by a discussion in the auditorium of up to 10 minutes. These presentations will take place on the last day of class on November 22, 2024. Individual small-group supervision appointments are scheduled for the class session on Thursday, November 14, 2024. This second exam component counts for 50% of the final grade.
