The City


Dearborn is a city in Wayne County in the U.S. state of Michigan bordering Detroit to the south and west. The city is best known as the hometown and world headquarters of the Ford Motor Company and of its founder Henry Ford. With The Henry Ford Detroit is home to the largest indoor-outdoor historic museum complex in the United States.

The University


The University of Michigan-Dearborn was founded in 1959 with a gift of just over 200 acres from the Ford Motor Company and has grown as a comprehensive, top-ranked, regional public university since then. Still located on the former estate of Henry Ford the campus is divided into several sections: The Henry Ford Estate, known as Fair Lane, The Fairlane Center, Main Campus, and the Early Childhood Education Center. In addition, the university has over 70 acres of nature preserve and a bird observatory.
The university offers several ABET-accredited engineering bachelor degree programs including the following areas of study: bioengineering, computer and information science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, industrial and systems engineering, manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, robotics engineering, and software engineering.
