A recently clinched exchange agreement with the prestigious University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley), offers MCI master's students (from all disciplines) the opportunity to undertake a research stay as part of their master thesis.
UC Berkeley is one of the most reputed universities in the world and a leading research institution in California. It offers a wide variety of undergraduate and graduate programs, spanning across engineering, business, to natural sciences. UC Berkeley stands out for its academic excellence, diversity, and significant contributions to technology and innovation.
Master’s students at MCI are invited to apply for a research stay as part of their master thesis.
Requirements:
- Application form (available at the International Relations Office at MCI; outgoing@mci.edu)
- Confirmation of supervision by a professor at UC Berkeley (
see template)
- Outline of the master thesis topic (abstract; 150–200 words)
Number of participants: Up to two students per academic year
Duration: Up to four months
Application Deadline: June 15, for the following spring semester
Costs for participation:
- DS-2019 processing fee: $650
- VSPA University Services fee: $1,000
- IES Administrative fee: $50
(Note: Fees are subject to change.)
Travel expenses and living costs (accommodation, meals, etc.) are to be covered by the students themselves.

Students in engineering study programs may apply for a Marshall Plan Scholarship to support their stay.
