What is the Tandem program?

Two students from different cultural backgrounds meet up for an hour per week to practice and improve their foreign language skills.

Example:

Roberto, an Italian exchange student, would like to improve and practice his German. Therefore, he meets up with his tandem partner Katharina, who is Austrian and would like to work on her Italian skills. For the first half hour or so, Roberto and Katharina speak German, and for the second half hour they speak Italian. In addition to improving their language skills they will also learn a lot about the life and culture of their tandem partner.

It doesn’t have to be so formal, though – you can also go hiking together, go to the cinema (lots to discuss afterwards!) or do whatever you feel like doing with your tandem partner, provided that you take turns practicing your foreign language skills!

How can you join?

As soon as you are logged on, you will see a list of people interested in finding a tandem partner. So you can either put your own name on the list or contact someone from the list yourself. You will find our tandem list here and you can register here.
