TEACHING & ELEARNING
Introducing our new team member - Lyuba Stafyeyeva
Dear colleagues!
I would like to introduce myself as a new employee of MCI Learning Solutions.
My name is Lyuba (I leave out the surname because it is not pronounceable anyway).
I have been living in Austria since 2009, but come originally from Ukraine where I completed my Master of Education. Since the time when I was working as a teacher at a Ukrainian school, I have been interested in the use of technologies in education. That is why I started another Master's program with a focus on Applied Knowledge Management and E-Learning at the FH Burgenland and completed it with distinction. I am particularly interested in topics such as digital games, gamification, storytelling and media production as well as interactive tools for the classroom activities.
I joined MCI in early March and am supporting the Learning Solutions Team in the field of e-didactics. My responsibilities include eAssessment, Auditing, TCExam and Content Production & Design.
I look forward to working together with you!
PRME
SAVE THE DATE: Workshop on Responsible Management Learning & Education
Make a note now: on December 18, an interesting and highly topical workshop on "Responsible Management Learning & Education" will take place at the MCI. The workshop will be led by Oliver Laasch, Ph.D. of Nottingham University China, who is a real capacity in this field. An overview of the program and a short biography can be found here. The workshop will be conducted in German.
Badge “Responsible Management”
In April, the first MCI Badges (digital certificates) in "Responsible Management" were awarded to the 13 students who participated in the pilot project. To receive the badge, the students had to complete a series of workshops, webinars and the Winter School "Business Ethics" and had to write a reflection paper on the subject. The badge certifies that they have acquired competencies in the area of responsible management with reference to ethics, sustainability, and CSR. The feedback from the students was overwhelmingly positive. The badge will be offered again from winter semester 2018/2019.
PRME section in the press review
From May onwards, there will be a new section in the MCI’s “Pressespiegel” (press review) on PRME / Responsible Management Education. There you will find news and articles on PRME-related topics such as leadership & responsibility, business ethics, CSR, sustainability, sustainable development goals, etc. The aim of this measure is to raise awareness of these issues among MCI employees and to draw attention to current developments. Suitable articles on these topics can be sent to regina.obexer@mci.edu by Thursday of each week
INNOVATION & INITIATIVE
Ready to teach online?
The switch from pure classroom teaching to online teaching is now affecting a steadily growing number of teachers. This is not only the case at MCI, but also at many other universities. You as a teacher bring with you a variety of experiences, knowledge and attitudes regarding the competences, techniques and organisational structures necessary for online teaching. On the website Ready to teach online?, developed by the learning platform OpenSUNY (The State University of New York) you will find a range of resources as well as self-assessments which you can use to test your existing and augment your skills for online teaching. In addition, a number of embedded videos shed light on the topic of online teaching and learning from different perspectives.
Cool Toolbox
Today we have come up with something special for you: 'Digital toolbox' for more interactivity in the class.
If this were a normal post, you would find here a very long list of different tools we could recommend to make your course more interactive... but nothing here. This time you will become active yourself and learn more about eLearning with the help of a specially created game "Who wants to be a millionaire". Click here for the game.
The game, you’ve just played, I created in less than 15 minutes. Without a long training phase and without any further help or support. Simply create questions, enter different answer options, save and share. That's it! Undoubtedly, it is a good option if you want to try something new in your class and make it more interactive.
This game was created with LearningApps.org and is freely available.
If you are interested in various tools which help you to create learning content in different formats and make your lecture more interactive, enable collaboration and communication in face-to-face and online phases, check the Learning Solutions News more often.
Every month we will present a tool that will support you in encouraging your audience to active participation in the class as well as during the self-paced learning… without having to invest much time or money!
