Miner's World

THE CHALLENGE
The "Knappenwelt" (Miner's World) intends to preserve the cultural heritage (mining museum) in the region and aims to pass on and preserve traditional customs and traditions in a playful way. It is also a meeting place for locals and serves to strengthen the associations in the region through events.
For some time now, Knappenwelt has been struggling with scarce resources and declining visitor numbers. Due to the structure of the association, it is dependent on the work of volunteers. The attraction therefore lacks the personnel and financial resources to develop the outdoor museum further. The students' task was to develop simple concepts within a design sprint.

OUTCOMES
In the course of the design sprint, the students first discussed the problem itself before using creative methods to find a solution. The concepts and project ideas were presented to the association members in a pitch and the students chose the best project among themselves. The ideas ranged from an Airbnb offer in the hay barn to solutions for the lack of gastronomy with food trucks or picnic baskets, various events and a better staging of the offer to blacksmith workshops, Escape Rooms, Mine'n'Dine events to a better connection with shuttles or the miners' crew card as an incentive for volunteers.
