Haus der Begegnung Innsbruck – Fit for the future

THE CHALLENGE
A very special project recently emerged from a practice-oriented integrative course at MCI Tourism: to develop a new concept for the “Haus der Begegnung” (“House of Encounters”) in Innsbruck. For the house, which opened in the 1960s as a place of social education and encounter, a kind of pulse check was first carried out by identifying and evaluating new trends and changes in the market. The aim was to analyse important developments and their effects on the operation of the diocesan house of education at an early stage in order to be able to continue to operate successfully on the market within the framework of the priorities set.

OUTCOMES
The “Haus der Begegnung” is based on the idea of education, which can take many new forms due to accelerated technological change we see today. Against this background, developments in the field of education were highlighted and ideas presented on what a combination of virtual and physical education could look like in the future. Shaped by the guiding principles of mutual respect and exchange, the students developed ideas that take into consideration new social trends and make the contribution of the House relevant in the future. The challenge was to combine individual measures into a holistic concept and to integrate them into the existing vision and mission.
