COVID-19 Update

Dear students,

For several weeks now, we have been able to observe how the numbers of infected people with COVID-19 and, consequently, the hospitalization rates have been steadily increasing. For this reason, the federal government has presented a step-by-step plan with stricter measures, which is very much based on the utilization of ICU beds. The first stage came into force on September 15.

While maintaining the already established “3G” (vaccinated, recovered, tested) regulation, the following changes are to be observed at MCI as of September 16:

  • The validity period of antigen tests, which are accepted by authorized bodies, will be reduced to 24 hours.
  • In general, FFP2 masks will again be mandatory in all MCI buildings, with a distinction between "tested" and "vaccinated/recovered" persons:
    • Tested: mask also mandatory while seated.
    • Vaccinated/recovered: mask recommended while seated.
  • Lecturers can remove the mask during their teaching activities in the lecture hall; in discussions with students, etc., the masks must be used. This regulation applies also to students (e.g. presentation of group work).

We are still at the very beginning of the winter semester and have set ourselves the goal of conducting the majority of all courses face-to-face. We are therefore convinced that these measures are necessary so that the MCI can continue to "stay open".

Thank you very much for your support!

With best regards

Andreas Altmann, Rector
Franz Pegger, Head of the Academic Council
Manfred Forstinger, Chairman of the University Representation

P.S.: If you are tested positive for COVID-19, please send a short notification to your head of studies as well as covid-19-beauftragter@mci.edu. Thank you very much!
