The following COVID-19 protective measures come into force with immediate effect and apply until revoked.
The Austrian Federal Government decided intensified measures a few days ago in a press conference for the containment of COVID-19, which become effective starting from Tuesday, 3 November for the time being for the period of 4 weeks.
Following the federal press conference, extensive digital consultations of all universities with the Ministry of Science took place, in which numerous clarifications and specifications for the university sector were made.
The following provisions apply to the MCI from Tuesday, November 3 until the end of November:
- Teaching and examination activities will generally take place during this period in the Distance Learning program. Non-substitutable courses/examinations will, however, be conducted in classroom mode, subject to the appropriate safety standards (in case of doubt, safety will always take precedence). You will, of course, receive detailed information from your study program in due time.
- Laboratory operations and practical exercises that require attendance on campus can, in principle, continue to be possible under strict observation of safety standards. In this regard, your study program will also provide you with detailed information.
- Unfortunately, the libraries, study & recreation areas at MCI with their respective study and reading places have to be closed. Borrowing at the University Library and the faculty libraries of the University of Innsbruck will continue to be possible.
- Please note that when entering the MCI buildings you must wear mouth/nose protection at all times and in all areas and strictly observe the generally applicable hygiene measures.
If you should observe at least one of the symptoms such as coughing, fever, sore throat, shortness of breath, catarrh of the upper respiratory tract or sudden loss of sense of taste/odor before or during the non-substitutable courses, please inform the Department Head and the COVID-19 representative at MCI immediately.
We thank you for your support in implementing these necessary measures.
Stay healthy!
