Equal Opportunities

MCI is dedicated to diversity, inclusivity, openness, and tolerance, actively striving to provide equal opportunities for all individuals—regardless of gender, age, religious affiliation, disability, ethnicity, sexual orientation, ideology, or social background.

The working group for equality, diversity, and the advancement of women at MCI is responsible for the continuous review and further development of objectives related to these topics. The group is available to answer any questions you may have. It includes representatives from management, the Academic Council, the Works Council, the University Students' Representative, the Equal Opportunity Officer, and the Disability Officer.

Studying with a disability

A disability, chronic illness, or other forms of impairment can present challenges in pursuing a degree and may require additional effort to succeed. However, these factors should not hinder your ability to complete your studies at MCI. Many obstacles can be addressed through timely preparation, appropriate resources, and tailored accommodations.

We are happy to support you with:

  • guidance and support during your studies to ensure your daily student life runs as smoothly as possible (e.g. different examination modalities)
  • further advice, e.g. on funding

Therefore, we kindly ask that you inform us in advance of any impairments, especially those that may not be immediately visible. This will allow our teaching staff to accommodate your individual needs.

Your information will, of course, be handled with complete confidentiality. If you find it difficult to discuss your impairment openly, you are welcome to explore available support options anonymously. We also offer anonymous advice by phone or email to ensure you feel comfortable seeking the help you need.

The well-being of our students is important to us!

Therefore, we have partnered with öh mci, the MCI Students’ Union, to offer an additional service. Since 2021, all MCI students in particularly stressful situations can access quick and straightforward free counseling sessions, available both on-site and online.

Studying & Parenthood

MCI allows combining individual lifestyles with part-time, online, blended, or job-friendly studies. This allows one to earn an academic degree without missing out on valuable family life. In addition, MCI is committed to supporting students in balancing pregnancy and parenthood with their studies, within its organizational and economic capabilities.

So, if you become pregnant during your full-time studies, various support options are available to help you successfully continue your education.

Please contact the head of your respective study program as a first point of contact in order to plan the next steps.

There are financial support options available to assist with childcare. We encourage you to take advantage of these resources to help you balance your academic and family commitments effectively.

Information on semester abroad

MCI students with children also have the opportunity to spend a semester abroad at one of MCI's numerous partner universities. We will support you in planning and organizing your stay abroad and will be happy to advise you on funding opportunities.

We would like to highlight that Erasmus+ places a strong emphasis on inclusion and diversity, supporting disadvantaged and underrepresented groups. Students with children can receive an additional EUR 250 per funded month. Moreover, inclusion support can be requested to cover extra costs, such as preparatory visits or other specific needs.
