THE CHALLENGEThe aim was to develop a strategy for a seminar house dating from the 1970s. The seminar house is located next to the headquarters of the SOS Children's Villages in Innsbruck and is mainly used for internal seminars of the SOS Children's Village headquarters. It still clearly bears the signature of its time of origin, even though some of the interior has already been modernised. In order to survive in the long term, new ideas and concepts are necessary.
OUTCOMESThe MCI students developed sustainable concepts and underpinned them with business plans as part of a "Entrepreneurship Case Studies" course. For the two supervisors, Dr. Christian Honold for SOS Children’s Village and Prof. Dr. Engl for MCI, it was particularly important that the concepts fit the social character of the sponsor and at the same time could have existed independently on the market. This was not an easy task, but one that was excellently solved by the students. The ideas and strategies were presented to the partner organisation, who was thrilled to receive the many suggestions. The fact that some of the suggestions have already been put into practice speaks for the quality of the project.
