Intersectoral cooperations based on the practical example of Austrian Doctors - A small contribution to SDG 17

THE CHALLENGE
In order to collect more donations for their projects, the non-profit association Austrian Doctors wants to participate in the Giving Tuesday fundraising event. The problem arises from the unsuccessful initiative in 2020. Experts from the field recommend to enter into cooperations with profit-oriented companies for successful fundraising. However, the establishment of an NPO-FPO collaboration is complex.

OUTCOMES
As a result of the research work, a possible target group for cooperation requests of Austrian Doctors could be identified. This group consists of regional SMEs in which the core businesses harmonize with each other. This is a prerequisite for a long-term cooperation with a win-win situation. The demand of FPOs is for authentic, profound partnerships, which is why a collaboration solely for Giving Tuesday is difficult to implement. Furthermore, a quantitative survey revealed a significant correlation between company size and the type of CSR establishment. In interviews with companies, where an explorative approach was followed, a potential cooperation partner, the Diagnosezentrum Salzburg, could be identified and a contact with the Austrian Doctors could be established.

Partner Statement:
"As a graduate of the Nonprofit, Social and Health Management program, I am very happy to be back at MCI to implement this project together with the students. The cooperation with the MCI students was very professional and pleasant. Through our weekly Jour Fixe, both sides were always well informed and questions could be discussed and answered promptly. We are grateful for a lot of good input and ideas and are already looking forward to the implementation of our campaign for Giving Tuesday 2021! On behalf of the Austrian Doctors, I would like to thank you for the good cooperation and wish the team members all the best for their upcoming tasks." - Severin Schwaiger M.A., Managing Director Austrian Doctors
