THE CHALLENGE
In a comprehensive research, through expert interviews and with the help of an online needs assessment, potential locations in Tyrol were evaluated and a business plan for a feasible project in the South-Eastern Central Uplands was developed.
OUTCOMES
The advantages for doctors and staff and the added value of primary care in a primary care concept were clearly presented in the project.
The needs assessment of the population of the South-Eastern Central Uplands showed that there is a positive attitude towards a possible primary care unit and residents would also make use of such an offer. The willingness to pay for an extended offer (lectures/courses) in the field of health promotion, for example, was also confirmed.
Interviews with experts revealed that for a better expansion of primary care units in Austria, the attractiveness for founders would have to be increased, and financing (remuneration and billing rates) and promotion would have to be regulated more clearly and uniformly.
