THE CHALLENGE
The Social Road Map is a brochure published by the association unicum:mensch to provide orientation and assistance for people in financial and social need. This project aimed at transferring the brochure from a PDF document into an easy-to-use, accessible smartphone application. The aim was to identify the special needs of the target group, to explore, weigh up and specify possible solutions, and finally to implement a prototype application based on these aspects.
OUTCOMES
Students in the course “Practical Project Application Development” in the program Management, Communication & IT collected requirements and specifications in small groups according to industry best practice standards, and developed solutions for front- and backend under consideration of accessibility guidelines. Finally, our students were able to present and pitch their results in creative presentation videos to the jury in a virtual event.
In the coming semesters, the Department "Social Work" will carry out further acceptance tests and research optimizations based on these findings and prototypes, and will accompany the further implementation based on social science methods and concepts.
