Learning outcomes of the course unit
  • The students have a sound knowledge of the relevant European labor law regulations and European anti-discrimination law. They are in a position to solve problems arising in the cross-border area (e.g. in connection with the reorganization of companies, posting of employees, etc.) from the perspective of labor law. In addition, the fundamentals of social responsibility in organizations with regard to a wide range of anti-discrimination strategies are acquired.
Course contents
  • European Labor Law
    - Main features of European labor law (freedom of movement of employees; individual labor law; collective labor law; protection of employees, especially posting of employees)
    - Comparative law of selected labor law issues (Austria, Germany, Switzerland, etc.)

    (European) anti-discrimination law
    - Fundamentals of Union law
    - Primary legal framework
    - Secondary legal framework (anti-discrimination directives)
    - Selected examples of national anti-discrimination law
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
  • The course comprises an interactive mix of lectures, discussions and individual and group work including the presentation of European case law.
