Until 24 February 2022, the biggestchallenge of the energy sector was toreduce emissions at a reasonable costfor economies. Now, global warmingcompetes with energy security. I amwriting these words on the 70th day ofRussia’s aggression on Ukraine when gas is six times more expensive than a year ago, and Russia has just cut off gassupplies to Poland and Bulgaria. What will be the World’s response in choosing thenew directions of supply, technology, and energy investment? What about theclimate? Will it all make us stronger? These are the questions we will try to answerduring our inspirational lecture.
