“Understanding men better"

The PSZ is used significantly less by men. Our project team aims to find out whether ignorance or influences such as the media, family and advertising are the reason for this.

The collaboration with the MCI students was extremely pleasant. They were a motivated and structured group. The results are interesting and informative both for us as an organisation and for the project.

THE CHALLENGE
The Psychosocial Centres Tyrol see a need for action in the care of mental illnesses and public education. Men in particular rarely make use of psychosocial services, which results in higher suicide rates. Prevention and destigmatisation are key to improving access to help.

OUTCOMES
The literature makes it clear that mental health is well researched and technical terms are coined by the WHO. The psychosocial centres in Tyrol are expandin their support services, but there are still problems, such as lower use by men and long waiting times. Insufficient support and networking make access difficult. Marketing strategies from the profit sector could integrate preventative health services more effectively into society. A diverse and inclusive approach could help to overcome these barriers.
