Challenges for and needs of the members of BIO AUSTRIA Tirol

Within the framework of this project, the needs of the members of BIO AUSTRIA are to be determined. Furthermore, future challenges for organic agriculture in Tyrol will be identified.

THE CHALLENGE
Farmers face many challenges resulting from climatic and geographic conditions. BIO AUSTRIA as the representative of organic farmers in Tyrol wants to support them in dealing with the special framework conditions in the best possible way and satisfy their needs with suitable offers and activities.

OUTCOMES
The biggest challenges for organic farmers in Tyrol (about 80 %) are the legal requirements and the increasing bureaucracy. Digitalization (15 %) and the loss of biodiversity (15 %) are considered to be less of a difficulty. When broken down by farm size as well as the age of the farmers, some differences emerge. The needs and thus the most important services of the organization are representation of interests, further education and personal advice. While the members are only satisfied to a limited extent with the representation of interests, the satisfaction with the further training and the personal advice is very high.
