Learning outcomes of the course unit
  • By completing this course, students will gain an understanding of ethical issues in organizations. Students learn about broad ethical theories and are sensitized to the practical ethical challenges in organizations. In addition, basic theories of diversity management are taught and their implications in a business environment are examined in more detail.

  • Ethics
    - Fundamentals of Business Ethics
    - Theories of ethics (normative theories: deontology, consequentialism, virtue ethics)
    - Context of business ethics in western societies
    - Ethical issues in organizations
    - Theoretical concepts for the implementation of ethics in companies
    - Integrating ethics into business processes

    Diversity
    - Dimensions of diversity and intersectionality
    - Basic theories of diversity management
    - National and international approaches to diversity management
    - Current developments and case studies in diversity management
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
  • The course comprises an interactive mix of lectures, discussions and individual and group work.
