Hong Kong was a British Crown colony which became a Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China in 1997. City University of Hong Kong (CityU) is a public research university. Founded in 1884 as City Polytechnic of Hong Kong it became a fully accredited university in 1994. It offers over 50 bachelor degrees within three Colleges: Business, Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. It is highly ranked: 12th position in the QS Asia ranking; it appears in all important world rankings (QS, Times, ARWU).
