The City



Ansan is a city in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. It lies south of Seoul, and is part of the Seoul National Capital Area. It is connected to Seoul by rail via Seoul Subway Line 4. It has approx. 740,000 inhabitants.

The University

Hanyang University is one of the most prestigious universities in South Korea. In particular, Hanyang's School of Engineering is one of the oldest engineering schools in Korea. The main campus is Hanyang University at Seoul, located in the Seoul, with its branch campus, the ERICA campus (Education Research Industry Cluster at Ansan), located in the city of Ansan.

In the 1990s and 2000s, Hanyang University launched research in new directions in a variety of fields ranging from economics to engineering.
According to a 2006 university evaluation by JoongAng Newspaper,Hanyang University ranks as one of the most important universities in Korea. The university recorded high achievement in various fields.According to Academic Ranking of World Universities by Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China, Hanyang university was ranked in the range of 303-401th as of 2008.

Hanyang university consists of two campuses, in Seongdong-gu, Seoul and Sangnok-gu, Ansan. The Seoul campus is served a subway station situated on school grounds. Both the Seoul and Ansan campuses, as of March 2007, are composed of 94 buildings.
