The City


Łódź is the third-largest city in Poland and a former industrial centre. Located in the central part of the country, it has a population of 693,797.
The city is also internationally known for its National Film School and in 2017 was inducted into the UNESCO Creative Cities network and named UNESCO City of Film.
The Piotrkowska Street, which remains the high-street and main tourist attraction in the city, runs north to south for a little over five kilometres. This makes it one of the longest commercial streets in the world. It is the site of most restaurants, bars and cafes in Łódź's city centre.
Łódź has also one of the best museums of modern art in Poland.

The University


Lodz University of Technology (TUL) was created in 1945 and has developed into one of the biggest technical universities in Poland. Originally located in an old factory building, today covering nearly 200,000 sq. meters in over 70 separate buildings, the majority of them situated in the main University area. More than 17,000 students are currently studying at the University.
The Faculty of Electrical, Electronic, Computer and Control Engineering is one of the largest faculties of Lodz University of Technology. It also dates back to 1945. The faculty educates students in the fields of Automation and Robotics, Electronics and Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, Information Technology, Occupational Safety Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechatronics and Transport.
