The City

Munich is the capital city of Bavaria, Germany. It is located on the River Isar north of the Bavarian Alps. Munich is the third largest city in Germany, after Berlin and Hamburg. There are approximately 1.35 million people living within city limits, while the Munich Metropolitan Area.

The city's motto is "München mag Dich" (Munich Loves You). Before 2006, it was "Weltstadt mit Herz" (Cosmopolitan city with a heart). Its native name, München, is derived from the Old German word Mönche, meaning "Monks". The city's name is derived from the monks of the Benedictine order who founded the city, hence the monk depicted on the city's coat of arms. Black and gold—the colours of the Holy Roman Empire—have been the city's official colours since the time of Ludwig the Bavarian.

The University

The Munich Business School (MBS) is a private university of applied science located in Munich. The MBS confers degrees in Business Administration and is ranked as one of the leading private Business Schools in Germany.

The School was founded in 1991 (at that time named Europäische Betriebswirtschaftsakademie) by the European Business Schools International (ebsi) and became state accredited private university in Bavaria in 1999. In 2003 the school was renamed Munich Business School and adopted the new Bachelor and Master system. Two years later a 24 month Executive MBA program was introduced. In addition, Bachelor programs focusing on Russian, East and Middle Asian markets are offered. All study courses are FIBAA accredited. Currently MBS has a matriculation of more than 400 students. Since its founding MBS has had more than 600 graduates.
